How to Effectively Use Email Marketing and Social Media to Promote Your Business?

By the time you’ve finished reading this article, you’ll have a good idea of your online marketing plan. You will figure out your audience, your purpose, your objectives, and what social media channels you should be using to create those magical Benjamins (ok, maybe not that magic). But now it’s time to start mapping your journey to building your brand on Facebook and Instagram. Here’s a recap:

Start by looking at your website. Does it match up with what you are trying to sell? If it doesn’t, then you have to change your website. For example, if you’re trying to sell shoes to women, then your website shouldn’t look like a porn magazine or a men’s apparel site. Your website needs to be relevant to the audience. If you don’t have enough content already, look for small businesses in your area that would be interested in publishing an article about your niche and getting you to link back to your website.

Look at how you’re implementing social media into your marketing strategy. Have you created an account yet? Have you shared your URL with your clients? If not, then you have one step left to get started on a great path: getting your first customer review, writing a blog on your website, and then publishing social media posts and online reviews in your blog, Facebook page, and on your website. If you have any videos, images, or press releases to share, then do so now.

Next, look at the way you’re interacting with your target audience. Are you active on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, etc.? Do you offer advice online? Are you inviting customers to come to your website? If you can’t answer these questions honestly, chances are you haven’t established yourself as a credible expert yet, and you’ll find it tough to attract potential buyers and clients.

Instead of trying to sell people products or services, many people opt to advertise their business on Facebook because it is a very visible platform. Therefore, if you have a compelling page on Facebook, chances are people will click on the links or the “Like” button on the page. If you have an attractive picture or video, chances are more people will click on the link or share the image on their own Facebook page. You can also use digital ads on Facebook; however, you’ll need to be able to display those ads on the right sidebar so that your target audience can see them. It’s much like having an offline business except that instead of walking through the streets, you’re only reaching out to your target audience through the internet.

Last but not least, make sure that you’re not ignoring your website visitors. A lot of business owners take their websites for granted and they ignore the traffic that they’re getting from the website. Keep in mind that through social media, you can easily reach out to your potential customers and clients through email marketing campaigns as well as social media. So, be sure that you don’t neglect updating your website regularly just because you’re focusing in other things. Both SEO and email marketing are really effective, and they can give your website the kind of exposure that it needs so you can get more customers and clients.
